LOL!!

Why would trams be better than the CAT bus system??? I would think that the CAT buses are a lot cheaper than trams. The city already has a traffic problem that was raised recently and wouldn't putting trams into the mix surely slow traffic even more as cars have to wait for them to pass?
No
I don't follow your argument.

That's understandable. No is fairly light on details.

I think WF is getting at the fact that more public transport/trams = less single person cars = less congestion.

Transperth offer buses to and from the airport. I caught one to the city last November when I flew in to Perth Airport.

Yeah the 37, which takes ages to reach the airport, runs through residential and has a crap timetable...

You need a good 50seater, running every 15mins in peak, 30mins offpeak [even more in rush hour] to say Wellington bus station from BOTH the Domestic & international...

Don't mind me. I read http://www.theworstofperth.com daily. It's a great blog and a great laugh.

Well of course, there's been the plan for a branch to the airport coming off the Midland line between Bayswater and Ashfield for as long as I can remember, but nothing's happened yet ... which is also not unusual ;)

Perth, 2 hours and 2 decades behind........ :)

How did we get here? We were discussing trains getting stuck and now we're ripping into shopping hours.

I come from the eastern states, grew up in Sydney then Canberra. Every city is different. Perth does feel a little strange and old to me but that's part of the charm and I'd hate to see that lost by indiscriminant development.

Having said that, it does need dedicated CHEAP public transport to and from the airport. Whether this be a fleet of dedicated buses or light rail or heavy rail, doesn't matter but I suspect the bus fleet would be cheaper to start with.

Some people said buses to Mandurah was all that was required too ;)

I'd love to see a regular rail service to the airport, although now with the discussions about making it just a single international and domestic terminal, I suspect any plans that might be on the table would be shelved again until they know what they're doing with all of that :P

One would think that in the long term overall plan of joining the two airports together to make a new "super terminal" that some kind of rail system would be included in the project... oh hang on, this is Perth we're talking about right?

Don't mind me, I'm just being cheeky and I'm too lazy to find the cheeky emoticon.
