Train delay today

While we are on the subject, I remember on the 'older' trains (and I'm guessing the new ones?) the train wouldn't apply power until all doors were shut (as was evident a couple times when someone got stuck and when the brakes were released the train just rolled until brakes were re-applied).

Well one day everyone usually leans on the doors as there isn't a lot of room, but after the "ding, doors closing" this door didn't close. The train moved off. 100m later the door pppchhhhhh closed.

No one lent on the doors again.

Had a small "moment" on the train in to work this morning!! On the Midland line between Maylands and Mt Lawley, there was a sudden loud "FFFFFSSSSSSHHHHH" as all of the air let go, the electrics stopped (except for the backup power to the lights) and the train came to a grinding halt. The driver announced that train had "blown a major circuit breaker" and he would fix it as quickly as possible. A few moments later the electrics and air fired up and off we went, but at the next stop (Claisebrook) none of the doors would open. Took several minutes before the doors opened and the ever increasingly nervous passengers could allight.

At least it didn't let go halfway over the river. You'd have fun climbing out there to try and reset a circuit breaker... !

We pulled into Perth Underground the other day to a godawful noise - the fire alarm going off. Was surprised they even brought the train into the station or didn't do a 'driveby'. The CSO's were running around trying to work out why the alarm had gone off. Perth FRS arrived shortly after.

Are you saying best transit except for the trams or including the trams? I only ask because they were brilliant every time I used them, but I haven't been to Melbourne in a few years.

Perth, has the best mass transit system... Buses connect to the trains etc, most sufficient flows...

Melbourne has the best city transportation i.e the trams, in and around the CBD and outer fringes...

This is what Perth needs, trams. Perth as a hub, with spokes to the likes of Northbridge, Subiaco incl West Perth, East Perth across to Burswood, South Perth, UWA and the likes

Even a light rail to the airport would be great =D>

Definitely a link to the airport is required. And not a private one like my old hometown of Sydney (which IMHO has a great public transport system ruined by mediocre operation.)

I am rather fond of the CAT buses over here. I think they perform at least some of the role that the trams in Melbourne do.

Why would trams be better than the CAT bus system??? I would think that the CAT buses are a lot cheaper than trams. The city already has a traffic problem that was raised recently and wouldn't putting trams into the mix surely slow traffic even more as cars have to wait for them to pass?
