Hi all, something that came to my attention.
Isnt there some sort of headquarters where all the trains are being controlled? like an operation room?

Yes :)

This info is a few years out of date so it may have all changed radically, but there is/was "Metro Control" which is in the Public Transport Authority building (the East Perth railway terminal building). And there was "Midland Control" as well, at Midland funnily enough, that dealt with trains heading eastwards from there. There may have been other ones too, but my memory's a little hazy :P

Forrestfield is for the marshalling yards and the freight line via the Kewdale, Thornlie Spur & Armadale Lines or at least it used to be

i can tell you that out side of the metro area, Northam controlled from Avon Yard to West Merredin, Merredin controlled from West Merredin to West Kalgoorlie, this has since been changed, and Merredin Controll is now closed, and Northam controll from Avon Yard to West Kalgoorlie, i have had the opertunity to be inside the Merredin Controll Building, sorry didnt have a camera, but small room not mych bigger than your standard office, with 7 TV screens hung from the roof, 4 on top 3 underneath, with a large desk, on the desk is a massive pad and has on the left hand side, a list of all the loops (where trains can pass) eg West Merredin, Borran, Burracoppin ect, and acros the top is the times from 0001 to 2359.

on that pad is lines drawn like a graph from top to bottom on a diaganal, as the train moves and becomes delayd, the line is re drwan to see where he will cross the next train in a loop

on the desk is a few computer screens, which they use for clicking on and changeing the lights and points, and under the desk is the push to talk foot pedal.

Very impressive, if i could get in again ill take a camera, im keen to get in Perth Tower, and the TMA building for a gander some day.

Note, Northam is called Avon Yard
Merredin Is called West Merredin, as the yard is west of the town

Ok here are the correct train control centres:

From Cockburn South to Avon: Eastern Control
From Avon to West Merredin: Central Control
From West Merredin to just outside Kalgoorlie: EGR control
From outside Kalgoorlie to Parkeston/Kalgoorlie: Kalgoorlie control

Australind = South Control I believe, Transperth Network = Metro Control
