I think that should be 418.250? The train drivers are on a few channels, but depending on the channel you're listening on you won't always hear the driver. It's just the way they've set up their radio network (probably to prevent drivers from talking to each other)

my understanding is that its one comms but 4 channels?? meaning. other words one channel for repeaters around perth.

It's one channel, carried on multiple repeaters (and frequencies). Just like the PTA/security channel, the firies etc

the frequency is of close call, so it might be the scanner picking up slightly different signals

It was recorded by truckie (off memory), and he is now banned.

I don't believe 'truckie' was/is banned. As far is i understand he chose not to continue visiting WARSUG after receiving some negative criticism from some members of this forum, who often 'shoot before asking any questions'.
