Ports and Shipping

I guess this goes here..for anyone that is into that sort of thing Fremantle Ports operations eg. Pilots , Tugs , Gage Roads Control and intership calls. I regularly hear ops on 156.600 and 156.300.

Have you got a computer program that can receive marine digital selcall or do you just listen on the channels direct?

Is ch7 VKI always linked to the freo district or do they disconnect it for times like this week being 'schoolies' week?

Great Info Joss :D I am just tuned an listening Gav. Grabbed those freqs when scanning one day. Ive heard Surfcom (lifesavers) in as far as morley before when driving around. That was on 489.225, and ive heard Freo ports a fair way in too on 156.6

If you're interested in the marine side of things, I strongly recommend the marine radio handbook that can be downloaded at http://www.amcom.amc.edu.au/handbook/.

It's got a rundown of the 156MHz marine VHF frequencies plus a lot of info about the HF side of things.
