Swan Taxis Frequency

Post by wingz_2002 »

For those interested, Swan Taxis have 2 radio channels (or Query Channels). They are: 488.6250 & 489.5000.

However, the voice from the drivers is blocked to each other so you can only hear the radio operator.
The static "glitches" you hear every now and then is the sound of the operator clearing a taxi's computer head after a "no job", this allows the driver to accept a new job.

Also, the radio channels above are for several fleets. Swan Taxis, Yellow Cabs, Coastal Cabs, Tricolour Taxis & Mandurah / Pinjarra Taxis. Occasionally you will hear these fleets mentioned.

Any luck trying to decode their data transmissions?
Would be interesting to see what other misc details the operators send.

You can hear the taxi drivers responce on the RX Side of the Freqs not sure it is around the 483MHz - 484MHz area They are low powered so a good aerial is needed or they need to be close to you .

Just listening to them... it amazes me how some of those drivers passed their entrance exam...
Or managed to earn the $250-500k for the plates.

These are the repeater input frequencies. You'll likely hear the drivers on these, but you'll have to be quite close:
482.725
482.800
483.025
483.050
483.150
483.325
483.425
483.550
483.575
483.700
483.825
483.875
483.975
484.000
484.125
484.250
484.300
487.925
488.000
488.225
488.250
488.350
488.525
488.625
488.725
488.750
488.900
489.025
489.075
489.175
489.200
489.325
489.450
489.500
These are the repeater outputs, so you'll hear the dispatcher and/or data on these and should be easy to receive.

Been listening to 489.500 which I think is Swan Taxis. Far out! They would have to employ the rudest radio operators I've ever heard... "Shut up! I'm talking!"
