Thats what Transit Guards were ment to be, but like Allanah says, you cant force people to do the job.
Transit Guards are ment to be a one stop shop, but if they dont have the numbers they can only be stretched so far.
They have the same battle with resources that the Police are experiancing.
Transit Guards can operate without much help from Police if they had the numbers, it only takes a couple of arrests in a night to take a few Transit Guards off the system.

Who is she trying to fool??Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan has denied the shortage is threatening public safety, but says the new officers will help to ensure there is a high staff presence on services.
I regulary see trains without any guards on at night let alone two.
This new squad only operates from 5am-3pm anyway!!

This would be a dangerous thing to do, Transit Guards have similar powers to Police Officers....some people just arnt cut for it.
If they lower the standards for Transit Guards then they would have hell to pay.

Car Park attendants are CSAsGC101 wrote:so much for the plan to have a transit guard on every train all day every day as promised at the election haha. well that was never going to happen, what i find strange is they had chubb then dumped them because the transit guards were expanding, then they re hired some to guard the new fare gates, now they will be back on the trains. also at stations the customer service people now check tickets some times. so on the train system we have CSA's, carpark attendants, chubb guards, transit guard, and police rail unit... 5 different groups involved in fare collection and or security related work...... why not just have a group that does all revenenue protection, security and customer serivce backed up by police rail unit, to save the confusion of all the different groups. they certainly need some ticket checks on trains a couple of years ago about 50% of my trips i was checked, now i havent got checked on a train and only have seen one guard on a train.
On the system we have:
* Police Rail Unit (PTU)
* Transit Guards
* Customer Service (CSAs)
* Private security firms
