Large closure incoming...

Post by doggie015 »

The sinking of the fremantle line is going rather well... Ahead of time and on budget... So far ahead of time that they are getting ready to run trains through the tunnel as soon as July 18. As per http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Service ... t2013.aspx there will be two five-day shutdowns on Friday 12 July until Wednesday 17 July and Wednesday 31 July until Sunday 4 August. The first shutdown is to connect the rails and get trains running through the tunnel, the second is to allow trains to transfer between the fremantle and clarkson lines in the tunnel. Rail replacement bus services will obviously be provided and transperth apologizes for the inconvenience and so on....

From 7 pm tonight the line closures start. Make sure you have alternate arrangements for commutes to and from the CBD and be advised that travel times via car may take longer due to the increased vehicle traffic particularly on the north/south corridors between fremantle and the CBD.

And don't forget that bikes, surfboards and such are not allowed on train replacement services. Although they ARE running a ferry every few hours from freo to perth and back via Captain Cook Cruises (Presumably a free service) and bikes ARE allowed on that one!
