I saw the same generic "technical issue" message (I wish they'd be more forthcoming!) but never heard any more about what it was until I saw the "everything is back to normal" message a while ago.
Here is the email I got about it

Code: Select all

Services on the Midland and Fremantle lines are disrupted due to a technical issue and operating as follows:

Yep I got the same one. My bet is it was either a signals failure or a track fault of some kind - I think Claremont and Bassendean are the two locations off the top of my head where they can turn trains around on the Freo and Midland lines. I could be wrong however (I regularly am!)

Perth Underground and Esplanade stations were evacuated today causing delays on the Clarkson and Mandurah lines. Initial information says it was due to a "fault alarm" and not a fire

Train services will be cancelled between Perth and Armadale stations and Perth and Thornlie stations from the evening of Friday 15 until last service Sunday 17 November 2013 in order to facilitate works on the line.

Train Replacement Route 907 will operate between Perth and Armadale stations and Route 908 will operate between Cannington and Thornlie stations at train replacement bus stops near stations whilst services are cancelled.
