I imagine the sets/consists stuck up north will continue to operate on the northern part of the still operational Whitfords. At least at Whitfords they have the ability to turn the trains around.

EDIT: A thought that came to mind, they have been doing a lot of late night work on the lines these past few weeks, maybe a link to the line becoming damaged? Just a thought though from observations driving home last week with additional pole gear added in some sections.

The result of whatever happened will not be repaired until friday!

I also saw this comment in the perthnow article: "Did anyone else see the big blue flash that seemed to come from Greenwood station area last night at about 9:30pm? It lit up the whole sky and seemed to have a focal point on ground roughly where the station is. I did wonder what it was but am now thinking this was when the problem begun?"

This could very well be related to the night works...

EDIT: The afternoon peak is going to be interesting listening...

That's ok, you can use the rail replacement bus services they tend to work well!

:smt078

Looks like epic traffic jams tomorrow! I hope they work through the night to fix this little whoopsie.

Holy crap... sounds like things are getting violent on Platform 11... I just heard someone screaming expletives at someone else in the background of a transmission requesting cameras on platform 11!

EDIT: They just said to disregard it, the POI left the station

Heh... I think we might be needing more busses for when the trains fail than more trains!

Well that explains why the drive home this arvo at 3.30 was more like 5.30. Royal show goers will be thrilled

Yeah; thornlie line services are cancelled between Cannington and Thornlie due to a technical issue (Probably points to the spur stuck in the C pattern position...). They're also going to be temporarily changing the stands at Stirling station (They have trains stopped between Whitfords and Stirling, probably got services to stirling for the benefit of circle-route passengers as well as services to Event Cinemas/Westfield Innaloo and Ikea!).
Stand 1 Route 904 All Stops to Whitfords Station
Stand 2 Route 904 Express to Whitfords Station
Stand 3 Route 904 Express to Whitfords Station
Stand 4 Route 99
Stand 5 Routes 410, 412 and 98
Stand 6 Routes 421 and 423
Stand 7 Routes 425 and 415
Stand 8 Routes 414, 424 and 427
Stand 9 Routes 401, 402, 426 and 428

As of 9pm the stranded train is still in the same spot, however the diesel loco is slightly further down the line, possibly about to go and retrieve it?

Still 500m-1000m of line and booms missing/bent with a crew working.

Now the fremantle and armadale/thornlie lines are delayed due to a "Technical issue"... This has not been a good 24 hours for TransPerth...

Apparently the issue with the Fremantle line this morning was a railcar that decided to fail just in or near Fremantle station. They had to haul it out of the way before they could get things going again.
