Used to happen all the time at Subiaco tunnel.

Where did they report it was a power outage?

Cant see anything there. There is a pic of a train with no lights on. Which doesn't mean there was a power outage. The driver could have isolated the electricity on the train for some other reason.

Effective immediately Saturday 7 July 2012 at 10.35am

Trains on all lines are currently not operating due to a system error...
They have since fixed it but that must have been one heck of a system error to bring the whole network to a standstill!

No one said they would. Equipment fails, people don't always screw up and I don't think its very fair saying someone screwed up unless its factual.

Train services on the Armadale/Thornlie and Fremantle lines were disrupted at 7:45 am today due to an "Incident".

As heard a short time ago, trains running into the city (and possibly out of) on the northern line have stopped after Leederville due to a downed line.

Buses being scrambled, full train of passengers also needing to be offloaded half way down the track.

Listening in and they're having trouble locating their "emergency stairs" to get people off of the stranded train.

Well, that explains the "Technical issue" disrupting the Joondalup line! I've never heard of a train actually being stranded between stations though! Glad I'm not on that one!

Reports suggest the train has brought down/dragged with it several hundred meters of line and or booms. Sounds like the clean up might take a while.

It's a shame that it takes so long to get people off in an almost emergency situation and then when buses are needed there are no spares because they all all used for normal services. The only buses available usually are from supervisors spares and staff finishing shifts, never enough to carry 1000's of passengers in any reasonable time frame.

This also means that until the damage to the train is repaired there will be at least 2 (and possibly 4) less railcars in service. The network is alread struggling in peak hour as it is!
