Helitac and Water Bomber frequencys (WA)

Post by TrainFreak »

Does anyone have the frequencies for the helitacs (based at Perth & down South), Fixed-wing Water bombers, Air-Intel chopper and what type of scanner I’ll need to receive them?

As I've forgotten which section in the website I seen them

Much appreciated

OK, I have 23 and 50 plugged into my desktop, standard antenna (yet to rig up the discone).
What range should ch 23 and 50 produce. I am in Beechboro and get nothing.

I assume it is the aerial but just want to check.
Thanks

It's line of site for those channels. Even then depending on which way the helicopter is facing can affect it. From the ground you're looking at around 3-5 k's is average. From the chopper may be a bit more, there are other factors that come into signal distance so you might find you can pick it up from 10k's away in one area but can't hear something 2 k's away in the opposite direction.

Helitak Channels are simplex, and dont use a repeater like other comms, so you have to be reasonably close to recieve it.

Incorrect. Primary channel used for helitaks is a duplex channel. Some of the alternative channels are simplex though.

They default to Chan 23 in the Metro Area. They'll only go to a Simplex channel if the fixed wing bombers (or other Helitacs) are already using that frequency at another fire.
