Software for scanning trunked networks with debian linux and RTL-SDR

Post by adrianbone »

Hello,

I use debian linux and have recently purchased an RTL-SDR, and I've had no success in receiving any trunked networks.

I've tried installing dsd and all of its dependencies but no luck.

Anyone else able to recommend any software? Any help appreciated, thanks

I've read before that you generally need 2 SDR's. One for the trunking control channel and one for the active frequency.

I have successfully used DSD with a discriminator tap inside a Uniden 796 scanner and fed into an old 2011 Toshiba laptop.
If you dont have any understanding of the pros and cons of discriminator taps or Software defined radio you are better off finding somebody who knows what they are doing (my help was from a VK amateur friend).
