i live in armadale what would be the best frequency to listen to

SJA is not like WAPOL, they only use 1 channel. There are many repeaters about the place but usually if you have a freq it'll work in most of the metro area.

413.375 is what I'm using :D

for armadale way try 412.475 thats on top of the ch 10 tower in carmel
the ambos use several repeaters all round perth and other areas there radios are set up for voting which while there driving is like on a consant scan and picks up the strongest repeater i hopw that helps you out
