is it me or does the new ambos system sound weird with sellcalls and the priority1 beeps

Roger that frank - THANKYOU - and i thought I was hearing things :lol: :roll:

But yes - they have changed - the P1 beeps and even when they speak sounds different...I am sure someone will shed light on this.

yeah i was listening at work yesterday (base operator for towing company )and radio workshop was asking for radio checks for the new system to be honest i liked the way the old beeps were the sellcalls from DS end almost sound like they are of freq cause ya get a slight echo with it

The new communications centre was commisioned today, Wed.
For the past few days they were operating on the backup Omnitronics network which sounds like the operator has their head in a bucket :)
there is not the facility to 'beep uot' P#1 calls..
should now improve clarity..

What was the purpose of the long beep for P1 calls? I would have thought that after the vehicle's radio had been Selcalled by 6DS it would be going nutso already :)

A priority 1 alert is a high pitch tone to get the attention of the the vehicles which are out and about. Vehicles don't actually get selcalled unless there at an ED and not answering there mobile.

The new tone will no doubt be changed as its a low softer tone and many crews aren't hearing it in a noisey vehicle. I think sorting through the clarity and other teething issues will be the first point of call.
