Im submitting my application this week for next years intake. Can anyone offer any advice on the process or what they look for in the applications?
I noticed someone was able to get the information of how many applications were recieved last year - any idea on this year so far?

Also, do traffic infringements from 4 years ago have a big impact on the success of an application?

:)

Hi Munchkin,
I think St Johns feel threatened when people from other services apply.

Hi Sonic,
I'm not sure what St Johns look for in applications. Though in the past Teamwork, community service, academic achievements, attitude and job stability have been factors.
A military or community service background have been advantageuos. I don't think traffic infringements are such a big deal, compared to dangerous, drink or reckless driving charges.

South Aust, NSW & NT ambulance services take general entries i.e. go into the training school with having to have an Ambulance degree. Something to also think about.

Wish you all the best for your application

my old man was in the vic ambulance service, mica. for 23 years

ended with a crook back and steel plates.

might consider the toll it takes on your body and not just the lights and sirens.
CANT HEAR THE POLICE ANYMORE?

So has anyone heard back about their applications?? How did everyone go?

A few friends have already got their letters for comms positions. No word on patient transport or student ambo officers yet though.

Good luck to everyone!
