Re: Super Size Me
I've seen it too. It also has a bariatric wheelchair which is folded and stored in a locker behind the passengers side of the body.
It slides out on a rail and is lowered and raised with an electric winch. When opened it is wide enough to seat 2 regular sized people.
I understand that to drive it you will require a HR license. I believe that the TL's will be the first people to be trained to operate it.

Re: Super Size Me
My understanding of licence classes is that an HR licence is required for a vehicle over 8T with three axles.

Re: Super Size Me
Roger that Wes, and by 3 it's 1 at the front and 2 at the back, and as you say under a certain weight. If it's not drivable on a C (unlikely) then maybe an LR or at a stretch (sideways) MR.

Re: Super Size Me
Well it only has one rear Axel, LR is Over 4.5 Tonne but not above 8 tonne GVM, so if it doesn't fit under C class then it would be LR, I cant see it being over 8 Tonne, My service truck for work was LR, and it as a Mitsubishi canter with 2 tool boxes, a Hiab, Air compressor and Oxy Kit and what ever else i could get on the back for work...
I dont think that it would be much different to the size and weight of the F250's, and being built from carbon fiber it wouldn't be that heavy tare wise
Other than that on a separate note, those guys that get a 3rd Axle on their land cruisers and F trucks, are they subjected to a HR Licence

Re: Super Size Me
according to DPI:
A motor vehicle that has 3 or more axles and a GVM exceeding 8 t. - HR
A motor vehicle that has 2 axles and a GVM exceeding 8 t. - MR
doesn't really answer your question, but their wording indicates to me that you need to meet both weight and axle requirements for the vehicle to be classed as HR, so I would say no to the needing HR for a dual rear wheel Land Cruiser.

This vehicle, officially known as the Complex Patient Ambulance Transport (CPAT) vehicle, will require a LR license to drive it. Initially the Team Leaders will be tasked to operate the vehicle and have all been trained as such. I believe that there is a plan to train other Paramedics in the future.

Re: Super Size Me
I heard today that it has already been used. The criteria I understand is any patient who will not fit onto a FW stretcher, either too heavy or too wide.
