Hi Munchkin and Aunties Eyes,
yes the Bell 412 is helo Rescue 65 (Bell is the company that makes the helo, 4 = 4 blades, 12 = 12 intended passesngers incl pilot(s)). Another example Bell 206 (Jet ranger) 2 blades and 6 intended pax.. Pretty darn easy when you understand what it all means.
Sorry I didn't mean to confuse people on the thread. Think of the 412 as being the HQ Holden of the air... They are uncomfortable to fly in, stink of avgas and helicopters are not all that people think them to be. Last time I flew in a 412 was in India last year... Not nice, bloody hot and pilots are not that switched on there either. Most of the CHC pilots on rescue 65 have already done time in Darwin and East Timor, they are good guys and GREAT pilots too..

Re: Close Inspection
[quote="Rodney"]I was fortunate enough to get a close inspection Bell 412. And by close, i mean walk in and out, sit in the pilots seat etc etc.
Lucky you too, I have received a written letter to go out some time airside and look over the B412 and the same with Helicopters Australia fleet, going to wait until Sept when they re fitted for fire work. jj

Although this doesn't always apply, for example Bell 230, has two blades, but does not carry 30 peopleWeedmeister wrote:Hi Munchkin and Aunties Eyes,

Rodney,
It's a rule of thumb as what was intended by the Bell helicopter company before the second generation of helos...
You want to spend lots of time correcting me, go right ahead. But remebr to EXPAIN it all to people in the forum first!! People like you need to cott more positive and constructive material.
the 412 is a very 'average' machine. The 230 & 222 has 2 BLADES and intended for 8 PAX (people).
Have fun correcting there and hope you enjoyed your little time in the 412.. I fly in helos every month and think they are just too overrated.......

That wasn't very nice, i was not trying to correct you. Just pointing out that its not always the case. Right, have fun in your rotors, i spend more time in commercial aircraft in the jump seat anyway so.... helicopters are over-ratedWeedmeister wrote:Rodney,
