Nope - SARWATCH - is every time you go up for a flight other than Touch & Go's (training) at Jandakot.Weedmeister wrote:Hi JJ, I'm not 100% on SARWATCH. Is it normally for outside controlled airspaces? Or is it normally for over water? Thanks mate..

If you fly towards Perth Metro area or fly in the Training area as a student etc - you have SARWATCH -and cancel as soon as you touch down.
Most common to use SARWATCH is longer flights eg - Jandakot to Bunbury and back - etc etc..
So I've been told anyways..

Hi gkoutlis,
this is true and thanks for your feedback..
It's normally handled through ASA or who-ever the plight plan stuff set faxed to and then radio on through the control tower (if there is one at a particular airport). Though I'm not sure what happens in uncontrolled/unmonitored airspace no control towers etc..
I know of some commercial carriers that maintain their own SARWATCH in remote areas.. and on occation I have been asked to take over SAR as having being in radio contact etc.. Normally take direction, POB, fuel lbs, ETA etc.. etc..
Though I'm asking for the trigger for who does what and specifically what areas.. please PM any replies bing concerned about getting off the topic here..
