Righto then, since we have some people who drive to places going neenoor neenor, what was your first job as an attendant? what makes it memorable or why cant you remember it?

Mine....

1st shift was a night, cold and rainy, on with a nutter who didnt talk.

1804!! (damn - i was hungry) hours, Priority 141 - chest pain. 15 minute drive.

bout 82 y/o female, Cardiac Hx a mile long, definatly ACPO!!

I have not, to this day, heard better moist gurgling resps!! I will remember this job for the clinically perfect crackles, ronchi, wheezes and gurgles. LOL

Oh and u should have seen the legs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what about if you do both vfas and comms cant tick both boxes

Im with VFAS for the short term - have recentley got my AFA1 qualifications (Advanced First Aid) - And have just sent in my application for the Volunteer Ambulance Service.....

Been with VFAS for just over a year - with close to 500 hours of duty time this year already - and this Sunday will be my 60th event for the year...

Ambul8: mine would fall into the oh crap box

Just after 8am Car V Ped in Byford (101) right outside the dr surgery
70 y + # base of skull plus multiple #'s tib/fib bilateral
He tripped on the pavement and fell into the path off the oncoming car (which was being driven by a nurse who finished at AKDH how ironic)
P1 through to AKDH then a 84 transfer through to QE2
And was Code 90 about 4pm so i got told.

We had to go via belmont when we cleared n dicked round for god knows what reason and to a new dr's box then we got to about kelmscott when a 1 dropped in byford (Car v Ped) again..by the time we hit armadale we got stood down as the patient had walked into the Dr's surgery and was ok.

And i wont mention anynames BUT a well known SJA paramedic and also well known in the VFAS took off in the van doors flappping and left me running to the phone box after being smacked in the head by one of the locals and no we never went back to get the patient....

My first job (many years ago) was a hit and run cyclist then we had to stand by at a car vs truck, one 90 and one critical. We ended up transferring the critical one to SCGH with a police escort and had all the lights manned by police, it was a good drive...

My first job was very boring, a 15 YO with a dislocated patela....whoopee...

My most memoriable was only a couple of weeks ago, first on scene at a 3 x 90 and 4 critical in Rockingham, what a mess. Dont want to do one of those again.

My first job...as a St Johns Volly at Barbagallo Raceway in Feb 82 was an unconcious rider with a fractured c.bone.

First Transports fron Barbagallo was the same year in march with a serious injured side car passanger when the sidecar flipped.was back in the brigade days now known as volunteer first aid.

Yep we did priority ones in out first aid post with doctors on board

They keep asking me to come back and keep sending letters and mail to my old address.

I suppose I was a big loss with doing average 4000 hours each year.

One good thing they paid for me to go to Darwin to compete in the National Comps.We came 4th.

Still to this day no other team in WA has recorded the same amount of State Titles to their credit.Wanneroo Divisions was the best.

Wanneroo Division does not exsiste now HQ closed it down and reopended it in Joondalup.

365 days a years = 8760hrs, your saying you did 4000hrs a year?? whats that around 12hrs every day of the year??? or has my maths gone astray

yer not much spair time.I was supprised when HQ added the times up from our sign on sheets.

We had public duties every night and out all weekend.

Wanneroo had the biggest work load in the State.We had 46 volunteers not counting our cadets.
