Spotted Rescue 65 at pretty high altitude going over Narrogin today... The thunderous noise is very distinctive, heard it before I seen it :P

It was flying west from Perth A/P on Sat, then turned south near coast,, could hear it for long time before sighting it and was at best 5000 ft up, very noisy..

at that hight theres no objects for the noise vibrations to bounce off , so it travels further and all that just means you can hear it from KM away

That thunderous noise is just air hitting the propellers, it's a great noise when you hear it flying over. :)

hey all

Rescue 65 is the big yellow chopper and it operates from jandikot airport.

it is turned out via 6AR which is the FRS Channel 55 metro or 78.100 and is avalible 24/7

i do not know who actualy operates it, but i do know that the FRS helitac water bommers are operated via helicopters australia

it is turned out by the msao at 6ds depend on the job its always opertes on the sja frequence
