hey i was just reading through some old threads and came across one for spinal care. Can anyone tell me why SJA would sell a product yet not use them .I have done a reasonable amount of research on this topic and would be interested in other peoples views. Mine personally is backboard, headblocks and spiderstraps with packing. I have also heard through the grapevine that SJA have actually purchased some 200 units which they will eventually introduce into their vehicles. Do they use Keds?

I'm pro Spine Boards, C Spine Collars, Head Blocks, Spider straps & Packing.. I think the global use and adoption by top state Ambulance Services is a clear indication that they would beneficial. Plus they seem to be recommended in every text book I read.. 8-[.

of all the studies i have seen, its actually the Vac mat that is the gold standard with only 1-2mm of body movement through all the planes of movement, but in saying this the problem for pre-hospital ambos is that its not really indicated for us by only 2 people and would require a minimum of 4. Backboard with all the additions is the obvious next choice.Plus it would be pretty hard to immobilize someone who is standing onto a vac mat lol. I have however used a newer version plastic scoop in practice to see if i had nothing
else to use. and it actually worked on a standing patient, but i wouldnt recommend it in the real world lol

. Be interesting to see if a company has combined the benefits of both in a a design.

Update: http://www.hartwellmedical.com/combi.html I found this type out on the market however would it protect the spine. You can have both.. Clever design. What do you think Markmywords & PFO

MMW what did you do at the airport!!!!

Security must have been busy when 911 occurred

Jason Ford was a dangerous person (if you were a patient) to be around. Stability is required along with a level head to get out of bed each day
