I dont think we have any current members who are still active with ALAS.
Heard not long ago heard a Kwinny SJA crew say there patient has gone with the other ambulance service, obviously someone forget to call back and cancel SJA.
They do some work from rocko and peel, so the whole sook about SJA having the contract sealed tight so no one else can transfer patients is a huge farce.

Kyle: ALAS do not have any health department contracts its all contracted to the Ambulance Service of W.A as the main and only provider of emergency services via 000 and also interhospital contracts.
I was simply saying that the contract SJA say is very tight and secure (this is to ensure private ambulances do not operate) is not as secure as they think.

Sounds interesting what conference was it ?
Be interesting to see how they implement it.
have not heard off any paramedical degree from a university NOT being accepted by an ambulance service, obtaining a degree from a small training organisation who can make you a paramedic in 3 months is something you should avoid with a large stick

Kyle,
Yes you are correct that the aim is for all states to be the same degree/qualification. They have only just started the big project so who knows when it will be completed.
ECU was the test uni for this and as such is the first uni having there degree assessed. This took place around oct last year. Not sure of what the outcome was.
Yes ECU offer the degree to non st johns students. Its title is batchelor of science - Biomedical. The first year of the degree is identical to the paramedical degree. There was several doing this degree in the hope sthat they pass the recruitment selection and then go straight into induction school rather than starting there studies delaying there entry for a year.
All states currently have varying pre-requisites so you would have to decide what state you wish to apply for and then look into what they want you to have
