How often do the call takers swap rolls from non emerg to emerg ?

We rang for an ambulance on friday for a call at work that collapsed was quite surprised she didnt ask me for my number name as soon as i mentioned chest pain..she sighed and said well the ambulance will be arriving nuder priority ebcause you said chest pain...lol

I remember while doing something in the city a guy fell down the flight of steps in the Bankwest foryer,

Soon as I mentioned he is bleeding from his ears after falling down flight of steps cnr William St Georges Terrace he said the ambulance was on its way.

Within 5minutes an ambulance rocked up only to be followed by another ambulance lights & sirens but switched off and drove on when the first one stoped to deal with us.

Why would they send two?

I noticed tonight the change of calls signs being used with either 21 or 22 on the end after the crew call sign.

Osbourne Park 22. Merriwa 21 Joondalup 22

Are these the day ambulances or just a new way of identifing the vehicles.

A memo was sent to ambulance stations on Friday outlining changes to vehicle callsigns to try and standardise them a bit more.

The changes are as follows and were effective this morning.

All 224 vehicles will be between the numbers 21 and 29
Eg. ARM01 will now be ARM21

All 4x3 vehicles will be between the numbers 31 and 39
Eg. SEC04 will now be SEC31

All 4x4 vehicles will be between the numbers 41 and 49
Eg. SEC03 BA will now be SEC41 BA

All sport vehicles will be between the numbers 91 and 99
Eg. CEN05 will now be CEN91

All PTV week day vehicles will be between the numbers 71 and 79
Eg. CEN06 will now be CEN71
CEN14 will now be CEN72

All PTV week end vehicles will be between the numbers 81 and 89
Eg. CEN12 will now be CEN81
CEN13 will now be CEN82

The types of vehicles are as follows:

224 vehicles work 2 days, 2 nights then 4 off
4X3 vehicles work 4 days on then 3 off
4X4 vehicles work 4 days on then 4 off

Hope this helps to clarify the new callsighs. It will be interesting listening for a few weeks to hear us all make silly mistakes.... :D
