SJA as acareer
I know of Fireies that have asthma and still accepted. I would think that descrimination could be a call if not accepted. Although fitness would have to be up to scratch.
Can any1 give me any info on the fitness requirements for paramedics, as on the recruitment info they sent out to me which is the latest it mentions a medical and physical fitness assessment. Any1 know what the standards are? Im applying when the applications open for next years intake which is getting closer!!

Students and HECS
Look at it for their side - Lets say they paid you a paramedics salary or whathaveyou to attend the Uni to become a paramedic, thats all great for you, but what security is in it for them? What if you fail? They have just spent a drum load of money paying you, you have failed the course, they are out of pocket without any feasible return for their investment.dazla wrote:Do students have to pay HECS fees to become a Paramedic?
I think it is silly that they dont pay students from day one, how is someone with kids and a morgage going to stop working to study for 12 months?
Here in Vic, the state of play is you do the Uni course, rack it all up on HECS (Unlees your rich enough to pay it yourself), hope like hell you pass, and get a placement in your forth year. Currently Vic are seeking to employ 100 additional paramedics, 11 in my region, I am not sure where all these paramedics are going to come from, as I believe NSW and QLD are also looking to hire a similar number as well.
