Oppsy I stand corrected!

You are of course correct in your statement regarding the 3rd ambulance service. If Wilson's are the company you are refering too, they provide Patient transport service for the private hospitals north of the river, they also do PT out of the Royal,QuE2 and Hollywood; well thats my understanding.

Also, there was another service which was around, but I am somewhat unsure how long.M.A.S.A(Metropolition Ambulance Service Australia)which was another service, I think it operated out of Redcliff somewhere; I don't know what happen to them, so don't quote me on the facts.

Tango11 Spot on there :p

Wilsons is correct (but what they pay you is terrible) wilsons have recently merged that service or was brought out by another company i cant think of the name at the moment i saw them yesterday in west perth before going to work, they have 2 Mercs which recently replaced 2 ford transits which are sitting out in a car yard in kewdale.

A few years ago (2001 i think) wilsons actually tried to buy out the non emergency transport side of SJA and offered a sweet sum of $7 milll (true fact) its the same principle that thewy applied to there operations in Victoria brought out all the small companies that wanted to sell up, i can predict in the future EVENTUALLY that they will attempt to buy out ALAS and they usually throw good money to actually obtain the service. NOW that would give SJA some good competition a multi million dollar world wide company V's SJA.

Yep, they did make the Saint an offer for the non-emergency transport side, if the Saint had accept the offer, then there would be very little money coming in from emergency side of the service. This would have place a bigger strain on the income from VFAS and First Aid training.

Both Wilsons and Chubb have made several offers for ALAS over the years, but it appears that Chubb are preparing to sell their Industrial Service division to Wilsons (Industrial Medical and Industrial Fire Fighting) as they have several large contracts through out WA and Asia. The Wilson bid for ALAS was aimed at securing their Industrial Paramedic Service and the First Aid training, but I think the deal fell over due to the asking price$$$$$$$$

ALAS would be a good buy for the contracts.

DVA and Medibank private.
Hollywood, Rockingham Private

Some fairly decent Industrial contracts along with contracts with the Navy and the Army.

The word around the yard is that. the new vehicles that were purchased came from Victoria fully equipped...purchase price rumoured around $30.000 per vehicle....decals on the vehicle were on it at the time of purchase.

Tango 11 kudos to you !!!

Your pretty much right on the spot (again)

Both trucks come from bibra lake cars n commercials and yes i had a stickbeak both ex mas both fully decommisioned (no wiring no decals no emergency lights BUT one did have 2 strobe filaments in the rear brake lights and a strobe pack left behind) the day i was there the auto sparky was fitting a alas hazard ligthbar onto one of them.

I know there is a $500,000 boat floating around somewhere lol

I did make an attempt to go see some people at alas on friday to get some pics but lights are on and no one was home no vans nothing well i coulfnt even find the depot based on the address in the whitepages.

Im curious to what ALAS previous owner sold it to his employee for because knowing wilsons price is DEFINATLEY no object they paid $300,000 for a private service that made diddly squat and only had 2 vehicles.

Also seen a red cross patient transport vehicle at freo hospital on wednesday (yes stretcher based merc not wheelchair) doen up in the old red/white decals.

Markmywords,

Advanced life has since moved twice from the address in there website.

They went from cooloongup to a building behind the rocky licencing centre on benjamion way. They have since moved again around 4-5mths ago and are now located next to the hi - fi shop on cesnock way which is behind beds plus on the corner of patterson and read st.

They should be easy to find and normally they hve the car or the ute out the front with all of the unused and newer busses behind the building

The rumour was that the previous owner had sold 35% of the company to a Eastern states based firm who was looking to get in on the ground floor, whilst he maintained control over the day to day running of the company.

The rumour was never confirmed or objected too, so I will leave you to draw your own conclusions; the previous owner due to ill health decided to sell lock&stock and contracts to the current owner.I believe that Wilsons made investigative offer to the new owner, to which I am told they rejected it, then counter offered; even with Wilsons money no object attitude the bean counters concluded that it wouldn't be a wise investment plus they had other contractual committments. As I said this was the rumour whether there is some or a lot of truth to it who knows.

Arr yes, the boat which disappears then re-appears, last I saw of it was at Woodman's Point boat ramp.

P:S

The Merc that you saw at Freo is the Red Cross Patient Transfer vehicle, Red and White being the colours of the Red Cross. The Royal has one the same, same colours, twin stretchers, mmmmmh looks very much like a ex-saints PTV.

Markmywords,

Went past the alas depot this arvo. Saw one of the new buses with the markings. They look identical to the color scheme of MAS. They just have a dif symbol in the rear blue section. They have included the red/white stripes down the side as the same as MAS as well.

Didnt have a camera but will take a photo this weekend as i will be up there if you wish.

Maybe millsy or someone else in with ALAS can give us an update on there fleet :D

They originally had 4 of the older style vans. There is two that have been turned into parts for the remaining two. The light bars on the new two have actually come from these spare old ones.

There fleet at the depot consists of the two older yellow vehicles, 2 new style vehicles, ute, xr8 and they have a old landcruiser 80 series i think it is. It has an advanced life sticker on the side. This has been around for some time.

I am not sure who the owner nodays is ( i can find out easily if you are interested), but from what i can gather the managing director is a female ( not that that is a prob). I only know this from when she offered me some work.

So who does exactley own it ? is it actually still in the original owners family or been sold out just a general question that all.

Its always still busy down that way like ie: P1 in baldivis as we speak and mandurah is the closet vehicle, only one rocko vehicle on today no secret harbour and kwinana are out.

Anyone who starts a depot in success/ankatell/golden bay or will be running with jobs but the problem i think is the whole ambulance fund hbf deal and getting the calls as people will always ring 000 first, if there with the fund and a private ambulance transports do they get covered or is it like a freebee ?

I called hbf and it was like trying to talk to someone in india no straight answers.

And just to make it clear i DO NOT have in anyway a problem with ALAS what i do have a problem with was the "dodgy" things that had been going on since 1995 and it wasnt ALL the time only here and there, hopefully with the new owners/directors they can get some leverage down that way as its a nice little niche.

Just for those NOR saw a 1992 ex nsw ambulance yesterday all decalled up 2 people in it driving down joondalup drive towards the hospital wearing white shirts and some sort of ambulance badge on there shirt and some medical logo on the vehicle couldnt see a name or anything.

Okie Dokie, let us clear up some issues here!

1) ALAS has been sold to a women called Karen, who buy the way was the First Aid Trainer for P.D.

1.1) She worked in the UK as a EMT, I just so happen to work with a import who worked with her.

1.2) All old ALAS vehicles have or will be sold in the near future, my next door neighbour purchased one of the original vans, complete with gaffer tape painted white over the beacons.

1.3)I too have no problem with most of the people who work for ALAS and as I have already stated, great idea, got lost in the politics + the interpersonal conflicts between some staff of ALAS and The Saint.

The vehicle of which you speak Marky is the new Wilsons vehicle or so I am told.
