Dealing with an open mic

Heard a nice long open Mic just now - if this was to happen at a critical does comcen have a way with dealing with it?

Call the commanding officer at the scene on mobile phone or use the secondary frequency.

I believe the radios 'time-out' after a pre determined time due to the exact reason you have stated. After 'x' seconds of transmition the radio automatically returns to receive. That is why you often here people break up long messages in to shorter messages with "... more to follow, over". (Along with enableing other stations to make more urgent transmissions)

Ohhh... is that how that works. I know the Tait's we have on our network up here are all set for 120secs.

So worst case we would of had 2 minutes of siren on the online feed...

The Tait TM8260's are programmed so that if the mic is on the mic clip, it cannot transmit. and as was previously mentioned they are also programmed for a talk out timer of 120seconds.
