I did hear on 6AR/6IP yesterday late arvo a "Barbagello Raceway Control" advising they were standing down and returning to station, along with Yanchep HSR returning at around 17:30.

For big events obviously they have external fire officers come into the raceway to bolster resources, but the organisation that looks after the race events themselves are the Competition Drivers Club. I know that at least one CDC person is a member here, so they'll probably chime in with better info than what I can provide!

More information is available at:

http://www.wascc.com.au/become-an-official.html
and

Taken from the CDC's Facebook page: "The Competition Drivers Club (WA) or CDC Fire Rescue Service is the only CAMS Accredited (FIA) motor sports fire rescue service in WA. The Fire Rescue Service works at many different events such as Drifting, Hill Climbs,Tuning Days, Speed Events and Racing. The Service is manned by both male and female volunteer fire marshals who gain on the job training and a CAMS Officials Licence."

And Im the Chief Fire Marshal.

FESA are only involved with the V8 meeting as per City of Wanneroo by laws and they look after the spectator areas only.

Yanchep Volunteer Fire Rescue Service Volunteers man the paddock area but were sent down by the Emergency Service Manager (in race control) to back my team up but they were not required

My team knocked out that fire ball in 22 seconds a very impressive effort and Im very proud of them all

It sure was especially Karl to walk away with just superficial burns is just amazing.

The emergency service co ordinator in race control did a FANTASTIC job having FESA Volunteers back us up on the start line and the Police waiting at the gate to escort the Ambulance to Joondalup hospital

Top job done by all

After being an 'armchair' expert and watching the replays... All I can say is well done to the pit crew from competing teams who came and rendered help. Reply shows a massive heard head to the fireball with red canisters in hand

Chanel 7's vision does not show justice to the Fire Crew/Fire Marshals but the Spectator Video sent to me very clearly shows the Fire crew at scene using extinguishers as the first person/pit crew jumps the wall.

This video has been sent to the Inverstergating panel and there is no problem with the responce of the chase fire vehicle or crew

Thats almost the same footage I have but mine is taken more from the right and shows the crash happening and Karl stalling on the grid. This video shows the fire marshal there just before the pit crews

Just as a follow up, has the investigation been completed? What was the outcome (ie what was done well, what could have been done better next time).
