But there is alot that you don't hear about.

There is alot of information that is not broadcasted over the radio (most listed by veteranfirey). This is due to the general public being able to listen in. Encrypting the radio communications will allow for more information to be broadcasted over the radio. This will be helpful to the volunteer brigades who are not issued with mobile phones, and have to rely on their own phones (if they bring them) to get vital information regarding an incident.

Don't doubt that at all, but there is information that for example the media get and immediately post it, whatever it may be from the air waves.

What point are you trying to make here? I don't understand what you are trying to say (it just may be me having a long day on the computer).

I'm agreeing with you :)

Just also saying that the media grab any info off the airwaves now as it is and publish it..

So the Tait's that have been installed already in some VBFB units will work with the digital/encrypted network?

Our units don't have them (yet) so I'm unaware of the model number.

the Tait 2020's are the older radio that have been taken out
and the Tait TM8260's (dual radio system with 1 head, green = VHF Mid & VHF Hi, Yellow = VHF Hi & UHF) have taken their place.
I dont believe these are capable of digital & encrypted communications.
so either they are being replaced or they perhaps are capable.

The new yellow and green tait's have 2 boxes that are installed elsewhere. Those boxes are what depends what band you have. I am sure with a software upgrade that they will be able to have digital capabilities. I have looked into the radio's a fair bit and I know a bit about them now. Due to people getting iffy over one of my previous post on here I will not evolve anymore, but there is lots happening soon.

Hmm. Maybe we'd get further if we simply asked what's happening.
