DEC Fire Fighting

Post by Sgt Seedy »

Hi All,

After reading through loads of websites and forums i can't find any information on DEC seasonal Fire Fighting.

I've found information on all other states apart from WA.

Can any one help me in finding info on seasonal fighting for DEC??? and any DEC fire information in general??

Thanks Warsug members!

hey mate

i email someone from dec a while back and this is what he had to say

Thank you for your enquiry.

To become part of our fire teams within DEC you have to be an employee of the agency. Fire fighting is only one part of employment with DEC - we do not have people employed just as fire fighters. Therefore you should focus on what is required to get a job within DEC. Below is the link to our website which explains all the different type of employment that DEC covers. These jobs include (to name just a few) conservation employees, rangers, operations staff, foresters, various roles in information technology, scientists, cartographers, administrative staff, and lots more. A lot of these positions require a university degree while other positions require experience and/or a TAFE qualification. If you let me know what sort of employment you would like to pursue, I can guide you in the right direction as to how to apply and what qualification/experience you would require. All vacancies are advertised within DEC and also on the website www.jobs.wa.gov.au.

Have a read through the link that I have attached which will give you more detailed information on working with DEC, and just let me know if you would like more advice.

Cheers and good luck

They begin advertising for the seasonal work in WA about mid september.
It is generally advertised in the local rag for the area if ur in the country, or the west australian. (if ur interested for next year)
Its definitely a good gig to get so good luck for next year!

just to add to Kyeboi's comment.

yea we both are very keen to sign up with DEC.

We come from a very respectable Bush Fire Brigade with proffesional standards and training.
We also actually work quiet closely with DEC North Coastal with nearly all of our jobs!.

mate we are seeking any info on the seasonal fire fighting positions for the next summer.

such as:

-time of year they recruit
-who to get in contact with for recruitment
-how long they employ for

mate any info would be great. feel free to Personal Msg me or get in contact with me on my provate email:

thanks again!.
