Farm Fire Units

Post by treeny »

I've been down south for the last 2 days, only got back a few hrs ago and i had to make a comment on the private setups on farms. when i was parked in Bridgetown getting the paper this morning, almost every ute that went past had some sort of slide on fire tanker on it. Some had small 400L tanks and small pumps that were against the cab, one had a 1000L tank and a 60m hose reel with a proper firefighting nozzle. One ute had a tank (unknown size) that was just as high as his sideboards, but took up the majority of his tray and the pump and hose reel were mounted on the cab rack. i think the idea behind this was to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible and spread the load out. BRILLIANT idea. i take my hat off to some of the farmers who build these units, sure beats the one i built.
