Swan Valley BFB

Post by written_ficton »

The fire season is upon us and I have been hearing a fair amount from units in the Swan Valley, but I can't find the exact info... Perhaps members from the board can fill in the blanks.

East Swan BFB

2 x LT?

West Swan BFB

2 x LT?
1 x 3.4?

Swan Valley BFB

2 x LT?
1 x 4.4?

No such thing as Swan Valley BFB only West Swan and East Swan out in the valley.

I believe though not 100% that West swan and East Swan both have 2.4's as well

From the City of Swan website: http://www.swan.wa.gov.au/default.asp?d ... _type_id=2

The City of Swan lists the following 5 VBFBs;

Gidgegannup East Fire Brigade
Gidgegannup West Fire Brigade
East Swan Fire Brigade
West Swan Fire Brigade

Thanks for this, however its not really the question I raised. What I was asking is what units / applicances do East / West Swan use?
I've heard them on the radio, but unfortunately not been able to decephir what the call signs are, i.e East Swan LT

East Swan 2 4
East Swan Light Tanker.
West Swan 2 4
West Swan Light Tanker.

Each brigade has these. I dont know if they run 2 Light tankers each.

East Swan has a 2.4R & 2 LTs
West Swan has a 3.4U & 2LTs
Bullsbrook 3.4U, 7.2 & 4LTs
not sure which trucks are from which with the Gigde brigades but i think it's like this
West Gidge has 2.4R & not sure on how many Lts
East Gigde has a 2.4 & i think a 1.4 & LT & 7.2

I was reading through the minutes of the Swan Valley, apparently West Swan are to loose the BA role once the new career station is built.

Is this Ellenbrook station I believe?

Ellenbrook is the only new station that I'm aware of being constructed in the area.

Thanks Tryanus, thought as much. Must be a huge loss for West Swan to loose the BA status once Ellenbrook opens up?

I'm not sure why West Swan have BA. Midland and Bassendean are right around the corner, Then you also have Guildford and Bassendean 2nd also have BA so really there is no need for them to have BA at all especially now that Ellenbrook will be ready next year. I think the likes of Bullsbrook should have BA.

West Swan are BA qualified because they are the closest station to Ellenbrook(6.2kms) and the surrounding areas. The nearest career stations are Malaga(17kms) and Midland(19.7kms).
But this said its hard to get vollies during work hours.
As I have heard from the captain of west swan, they will fight to keep their BA
