Down to your Local Government. The appliances are registered/insured by them.

Everything I've heard has always pointed to P platers cannot drive under firecall conditions, however if they have their plates showing they're allowed to drive Normal Road conditions.

Scroll up. It'll be different with every Local Government as they set the rules for Bush Fire Brigades.

In the police, P platers are alloud to drive the cars, running errins, not on the way to any jobs and they must have the radio/tadis off. they are also not aloud to take part in any vehicle stops/pursuits. they are aloud to assist at MVA's ect.

Actually a 'P' plater police officer drives a police vehicle in exactly the same way as every other officer. They use TADIS, radio, do traffic stops, the only thing they can't do is priority driving as you cant get your P2 qual while you are on 'P' plates.
And as Police officers have ane exemption under the RTA they do not have to display 'P' plates while on duty.

As far as i know the City of Swan has let P platers drive for more then 4yrs now. But there is some conditions like displaying of Ps & you can't drive on a active fire ground but can participate in training and other duties & you must be accompanied by a experienced member. It is also up to the Captain of the fire Brigade to approve individuals.
