With Bassendean having the 1.4R for awhile now and have attended a few fire calls how is it? I know Bassedean career have used you a couple of times for scrubs fire etc, but is the 1.4 like having a LT but with a bigger water capacity tank?

Three times bigger and heavier than an LT and only double the water.

Single Cab nice... So how are you enjoying it? Better than the old Mazda Pump? Obviously now you have lost the capacity of BA?

If u look closely in the back of the line in the top pic, the LP is there too, and from memory the 2.4 has BA racks in one of the lockers.
Also notice the block outs on the back of the roof beacons. i would imagine thats so the crew that r on the back of the truck dont get blinded.

I thought the Mazda LP was replaced by the 1.4?
The 1.4 doesnt have the capacity to carry BA's?

Apologies, they have a 1.4 not a 2.4. No BA in 1.4, but im sure they could get some in there if need be. as to the LP, the photo clearly shows it wasn't replaced.

The 1.4 with Bassendean 2nd doesn't replace any thing. It is an additional resource based at Bassendean for the current fire season. As is the 2.4 based with Guildford VFRS.

The 1.4 is okay. Needs some wider tyres. The cheese cutters that are on it get us stuck a fair bit in sand. Clearance is another problem. its the same as the light tankers.
As for BA...
after toodyay we have put two BA in the 1.4 for crew protection along with 2 spare cylinders.
Some jobs at Toodyay were beyond p2 masks and goggles
We seem to be getting lots of calls now we have a useful appliance instead of a mazda that overheats and carries on like that.
but overall very happy brigade now we more operational.
