For all Significant Bush/Scrub Fires 2009/2010

Edit - 14/10/2009

This thread is predominantly for third alarm and above bush fires however if it is a significant fire (ie threatening homes and businesses) that is at least second alarm then it will be acceptable. If it's not one of those things then post it in one of the other, more appropriate threads.

Please keep the posts to factual information - not rumour, hearsay, possibilities, theories etc. Also keep the information brief and to the point.

Thankyou for your cooperation.

the 3rd alarm bush fire started at approx 11.30am today at the corner of reen rd and toodyay rd gidgegannup, plenty of vehicles called in after midland, west and east gidgegannup said they should be able to contain the firebehind fire break, that didnt happen and other vehicles called in off the top off my head where parkerville, east gidgegannup 7.2,1.4 ,lt,west gidgegannup 2.4,east swan fire cheif, mundaring icv, kalamunda cfm,as well as some tankres from there,at one stage asked for air assistance dont know if that came or not, reen rd was closed and im pretty sure they asked for toodyay rd to be closed at one stage also, all this is about 2km west of gidgegannup, there where other vehicles too, but im at work listening to scanner,i work on large property at mt helena have resonable view of country side around the farm i work at,had plenty of thunder and storm pass gidgegannup at about 3.30pm maybe lightening started the other two fires, they started straight after the storm passed.... just my guess

They have three fires atm in the area:
-The spring rd.
-Bailup rd, 25ha, paddock fire, mop up
-Berry rd.

Winds are wsw at 24 gusting to 28 at Bickly so its above the threshold for forest fires so the active fires could go for a run... and a brigade has just turned out to another fire on Lilydale rd.

-Bailup rd is now contained

Approx 25HA burnt caused by Lightning strike, units on scene Worroloo [can't spell] 4.4, LT and Mundaring Deputy. Crews are on scene and will take approximately 1 - 2hrs mop up!

BTW what a Form One?

Ballip Rd Fire.

Lighting strikes can take awhile to flare up, especially if there has been a bit of rain
