Hi guys,
Does anyone know what these guys get up to and if they use radio's etc.
I heard they back up FESA from time to time if the fire is a threat to the Airport.
Cheers

If you're at the airport you'll often see them moving around the taxiways. The appliances they use are quite different from the FESA units we see on the road, most notably the foam monitors (like cannons) mounted on the roof that can throw up a column of foam. They communicate with the ground controllers on 121.700 (AM) and I've heard them in the past on 464.325, though this was low-power - I was close to the airport when i heard them.
Each appliance has a FESA radio though I'm not sure if they are mobile or portable radios. You hear them doing radio checks to 6AR every week - most of the time their transmissions are pretty poor so either they have the vehicles parked in the engine bays or they're using portables (which they shouldnt be using on the repeaters anyway!).dazla wrote:Wonder if they have access to Fesa Radios?
