A truck sales yard in my area has the following former Fire & Rescue Service appliances for sale and on display. The Light Pumper has been there for quite some time, but the Heavy Pumper is a relatively new arrival.

I saw this today as well, it didn't look in bad condition, altho I don't know what someone would do with a Heavy pump?

Also Auntys_Eyes, was that you at the Glen Forrest incident last night?

Sorry Sam, not me. Generally we don't do night time jobs as that is the domain of Turbo and his boss.

I know im bringing and old post topic up, but i can answer SamW's question. Mine sites sometimes purchase these trucks for their own rescue service. im pretty sure there is a mine up north with an old HP or LP as a mine rescue truck.

Correct. some mine sites buy these old trucks and use them as there own ERT (Emergency Response Teams), some mine sites get brand new trucks, and also buy these trucks to use for training purposes.

also some farmers purchase some of these trucks to use on the farm for odd jobs and fire fighting and burn offs.
I knew someone who had an LT and a very old 3.4 who used them on his farm, he also had one of the old Acco Petrol V8's which he used for pumping water from dams to his tanks in the yard, told me it worked wonders until the pump blew,

I remember reading a story once of basketballer Luc Longley who had one (cant remember if Scania?) in his own private car collection. He renovated an industrial warehouse if Fremantle as a house for his family that would fit in the fire truck and basketball court. He used it to take his family and kids friends on trips down south, plenty of room in the cab for the kids and huge storage space for all their stuff! What a fun trip for the kids :-)
