Help to identify strange vehicle!

Today at about 11:30am? on Guilford rd we were passed by a vehicle under emergency lights and siren of a type that neither of us have seen before. (and we are pretty savy with most.).

It was a brown 4x4 possibly a Nissin Patrol with private reg. plates. No markings and on the roof were white polly tubing and other bits and peices. The whole lot looked more like a tradies car (eg: gas fitter) than an emergency vehicle.

It was in a major big rush mounting the centre island to get by the traffic.

Any ideas????

Sounds like it could be a Western Power Emergency Response vehicle.

i know some volunteer FCO's, Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs have red and blue lights with sirens on their private vehicles. This could of been one of them if they are a vollie in there spare time and qualified trady.

Any idea what the plates might have said? Could it have been the private WP (Western Power) plates that the majority of their fleet have? I kind of remember someone saying about unmarked WP 4WD's.

The only Western Power vehicles fitted with emegency warning devices that i've seen are fully marked white 'trade utes'. From your description i'd suggest WAPol TRG, as many of their vehicles are unmarked large 4wd (Landcruiser/Patrol) with roofracks loaded with 'accessories' 8)

That vehicle also passed me on West Swan Road heading North - The Vines way.

There was also 2 other undercover vehicles with lights and sirens within minutes of the Patrol, another was an undercover (i think) Falcon sedan and another blue four wheel drive (wasn't a Patrol) I have never seen it before? But we were sure they were all WAPOL of some kind.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies.

Sounds like Margaret and I have seen our first TRG vehicle as that description sure matches best.

I am familiar with private BFS units being VFS myself and have seen many SECWA emergancy units and this was nothing like those plus the gear on top was not for electrical work.

Again thanks all and hopefully everyone has a quiet w/end.

Most of the unmarked TRG landcruisers have metal decking at the back of the vehicle for standing on and a roof rack which gives them something to hang on to aswell...also very dark tint on the windows.

They usually have four spotlights mounted on the roof racks also.

Sounds like the trg to me. Bomb squad has big vans.

Why somebody from WP would need to drive like that.. Besides I doubt western power would then follow with 2 un marked sedans. Id bet money was definitely the cops

Since always, if they have a letter of approval from DPI. This has been discussed on here many times...
