Search for missing person in Mundaring today, continuing tomorrow 0730
I was there today, but have to work tomorrow.
Comms today were on simplex channels

Got a txt through today from my Local Manager, asking for Storm Damage Qualified people who are able to do a 4 day deployment to the Pilbra for TC Support. Unfortunately as its this time of year, i was unable to help out.

The request originated from region, they have enough now on standby.
We were on standby at the same time last year, but never got deployed.

Indeed they were initially doing the old ring around on the weekend from Metro for availability.
I'm now on standby. Magnus are you on standby?

No, too busy at work at the moment.
Staff cuts this year have made it difficult to get away.
I didn't put in the interstate/intrastate deployment application this year because I knew I wouldn't be able to go.

Just got a call unlikely to send a team, not quite a full stand down, need to wait till it goes past Telfer for that, but otherwise it's a no go.

Melville SES team attended a major roof leaking job in East Fremantle early AM.

Arrived to find the majority of the rear of the house leaking. Residents advised that house is being demolished in 2 months.

One the roof were about 2KVA of solar panels surrounded by cracked or missing tiles.
Some holes patched with pieces of wood or old bits of tin.
Other tiles had been removed to fix the solar panel frames and then not put back.
Holes drilled in tiles for the cabling but not sealed.

Unsure when the panels were installed, but unlikely it was before the hail storm as the roof wouldn't have survived.

Spend over 2 hours tarping the whole of the rear side of the house.

Why would you put solar panels on a house that is being demolished?

I hope that our team of volounteers were called out to assist people with a genuine need. I smell something but not sure what it is.

12 SES volunteers boarded a Qantas Airbus this morning to search for sailor Abby Sunderland in a yacht half way between Perth & South Africa
I got a page at 2am today but couldn't go due to work commitments.

Hope she turns up safe & well

Approximately 50 SES members were involved in a search for a 73 year old lady last night who went missing from a Subiaco Nursing home. Search area was kings park with WAPOL patrolling local streets. Teams from Melville, Canning, Cockburn, Kalamunda and Belmont, just to name a few, were searching until about 9pm when a radio transmission was sent out to let us know she had been found......at coles in fremantle.

2 searches in one day, both with a positive outcome. Well done to all involved.

you'd be surprised, trudging through the bush, u actually keep pretty warm. there was a Stirling team there too. possibly Northshore as well

I was thinking about the 73 y-o old lady, not you fit and healthy young men and women

ohhhh, so u dont care about the vollies being out in the cold aye??? just kidding. in our breif we were told she was pretty fit herself, so id imagine that she was able to keep moving and keep warm. and she had a jacket with her too.
