Better to warn where possible then the day after 100km/h winds happen I guess.

The lightning crossed the coast around 10pm last night, an hour earlier than expected I believe I read somewhere.
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

Absolutley true - Definatley was an hour early - and the thunder and hail over Carlisle way was just unbelievable.

Two big tree v roof jobs in Lesmurdie and Gooseberry Hill last night
The one I was on appeared to be the home of a radio enthusiats who wasn't living in the home (apparently in a care facility) with 3 large antennae on the roof with guy wires all around the place.
Other job required a crane.

So are you saying SES charge for call outs?

well unless Homeswest occupents don't pay rates, they would certainly pay the ESL some of which goes towards the SES. If that's the case as far as I'm concerned they need repairs done and are in difficulty and should be helped in exactly the same professional and timely fashion as a multi-millionaire next door.

Owner of a property is responsible for rates, not the occupant (renting).

Having said that, the 'got us for free' comment is a bit off.

No rambler318, I'm not saying the SES charge for call outs but it costs money to keep us operational.

Tyranus, Homes West is Government housing so the occupant doesn't pay rates, which means they don't pay an ESL which means they don't directly help support the SES through the ESL

And to anyone else who reads this....

In this particular case, we have been to the unit twice before for the exact same reason ie, downpipe blocked by leaves. So can you see where I'm coming from? Now even though its a Homes West unit, the occupant is still responsible for general property maintenance, which oddly enough includes cleaning gutters. If they are incapable of doing it themselves then its up to them to get someone to do it, not rely on "oh the SES will come and clean it out when it overflows.

In saying all this, I apologise for the way the comment came out. I had just arrived home from the job at 11.30PM and was a little annoyed.

Car v House in Mirrabooka. Reasonable bit of damage. Some shoring with timber and acrows are covering the hole for a short while, while it gets sorted out. Sorry no photo's, was too busy trying to run the team. Callout made super interesting because we couldn't get nails into the bricks...even with a nailgun. However solution is improvised and the site is secure.
