They're starting to use the MDT's again for times to cut down on transmissions. May well have been an MDT message.

MDT's run over the mobile phone network (was CDMA, would be NextG now). They were brought in, in part to get rid of the VSU traffic off the radio network.

You'll often hear a repeater beeping if it has a problem (eg, power outage)...

No, I heard the same toned beep for different lengths of time, almost certain it was a morse message of some description.

If it's what I'm hearing now on 78.050 a very high pitched beeping, then no I don't think it is morse. It may be a setup for controlling the repeater or something like that.

That was a DTMF tone from an appliance or handheld radio.

No it wasn't like a dial tone, hard to describe.

i heard 2 different types. the first was teh transmission with the crackle, but then what sounded like someone typing in numbers on a phone, very slowly but. the next about 2 minutes later was a long beep asif they were holding the button. this went on for about a minute and 6AR were not happy. you could hear people trying to transmit but couldnt

6AR's comms panel played up this evening, couldn't transmit for a short period of time at all.
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

Only one console. They have several. Could transmit, but no audio.

Have heard a couple of times last week a comms tech state that they were doing some tests and would try to keep the interruption to a minimum. May/Maynot have something to do with it.
