huh? that blue+White Canadian (registered) heli just flew over with some other helitaks... and what looked like the Bell JetRanger used by the Customs and Border Protection. Anyone know WHAT WAS GOING ON!?

Several helitaks (4?) and a couple of water bombers flying over Cullacabardie and Ballajura for 15 minutes this arvo. It didn't appear they were heading anywhere but just buzzing about it circles.

Edit: Just saw the other thread.. Can't see any smoke.

At what point does FESA deploy the helicopters to standby in the hills?? It happened a couple of times last year.

all depends on the weather conditions, severe/extreame and above is the usual. Not sure what the plans are for the up coming weekend.

Two S-61's have been sent from Victoria to WA. They are C-GBSF (Black and White) and C-GJQE (Yellow).

I'm in Melbourne at the mo, and most of the grass and bush is still pretty sodden underfoot. Kinda weird for here.

Actually haven't smelt smoke all summer, glad they can be used somewhere.

Helitack 348 Departed south to join the other S61 and Helitack 347 did some training with Helitac 670-671 down at Serpentine this afternoon.
