Army/navy would be the way to go RAAF doesnt have helicopter pilots.

I think Navy alot of specialist type flying but DFR Would be the best place to ask.

Saw that in the 'Sunday Times' a helitac and 4 water bombers attend a fire south of Dwellingup. Does anyone know which helitac attended the blaze and wether it was from Busselton (682)

Yea I spoke to one of the helitac pilots early this year and he explain he got his Helicopter Commercial Pilots License and payed about $40k, from there he needed to gain experience so he work for a company up north doing tours in the region before flying helitacs

But I forgot to ask what TEE subjects i needed, are there any other options and where/how you gain your license

Unsure as to what its like in WA, but in the eastern states most helitac or medical rescue/police helicopter jobs go to ex -defence force helicopter pilots, they seem to have (and this is no offense to any other helicopter pilots out there) a higher skill level when it comes to flying in stressful and challenging situations.

Does anyone know when the WA helitac season finishes this year. I know last year it drag on for a bit, after the finish date. And does anyone know when helitac (682) from Busselton, finishes it season and arrives back in Perth

Three helitacs were protecting crews and homes but cannot operate at night and have been released from the incident.

Just wondered how many helitacs were at the Russell Road fire as I saw all five helitacs near Perth airport in formation coming from a incident. I thought they if they came from the same fire

Type one helicopter (Green) 681 is contracted till 14th April. It has no further contacts so will be stored in Australia unless another contract comes along. Information from one of the pilots today.

Does anyone know where Helitac 682 is currently and wether its still down south. If it is down south does anyone know when it finishes its contract and heads back to perth.

It would be great to know because if it is still down there, i'll drop by when i head down South

According to a FESA circular, two helitacs Metro, fixed wing Water bombers in Bunbury, Manjimup and Albany and Type 1 Helitac 682 have extended contract until midnight 14 April. However, I heard the fixed wing 600, 609 saying their goodbyes, leaving until next season yesterday at 0950 as they flew out. So it is anyones guess as to what is going on!
