Thanks JG-103 - I appreciate your help...I thought it may have been the Aerial Appliance - you know the truck with a really long aerial ladder...
So thanks for your help....Can I perhaps suggest that maybe we can post a sticky of all the different types of trucks out there???

Ours was a 5.2 until a couple of members decided to customise it into a 7.2!

for pics of vehicles check out this sight however urbans vary from rurals, generally what you hear are rurals except for the odd 3.4 urban. Exception is canningvale 2.4- its a urban.

The 7.2's are all locally built - theres no FESA designed appliance of this type. I believe they are designing a standard 9.2 tanker at the moment.
The Helitac truck is actually just a ground support vehicle - carries fuel and the like for refuelling the Helitacs.
For those that dont know, the callsigns are all pretty standard as in:
First number indicates the amount of water, in thousands of litres. 2nd number (after the .) indicates the drive of the vehicle, eg, 2wd, 4wd..
So, a 5.2 = 5000l, 2wd.. 7.2 = 7000l, 2wd. 3.4 = 3000l, 4wd etc..
FYI, the big red truck with the ladder is called a CLP = Combined Ladder Platform. The older ones are TLL (Turn Table Ladder).

You're probably thinking of the CLP (Combined Ladder Platform). Look
here or
