It has been too quiet this season. Me thinks that they have all been locked up.

You think about it, its currently middle January, and there has really been no big fires as such. The choppers have been sitting on the ground at Perth airport for as long as I can remember and have only been mobilised a few times. This time last year we were busy as anything.

In all honesty - Let's hope it stays this way guys... Wouldn't you prefer sitting at home or at work in Airconditioned comfort rather than fighting deliberatley lit fires? I'm happy there arn't any.

I say again, One can hope they're all locked up and there's few callouts left for the season, but I unfortunately think there will be more. There's no shortage of idiots left on this planet.

Or at home in bed at 1am in the morning two weeks in a row.... yes I would prefer. Having only been here (WA) for 18 months, I cant beleive how much smoke the recent incidents have put up in relation to fire size. This coastal scrub stuff that we get down our way is horrible stuff - I certainly have had enough of it. And dont get me started on the Sand, a bit of a change from the mud and rock tracks I had to deal with in Tassie.....

mmm I wondered if they'd bump the fire danger to extreme. Shire of Mundaring gets a page advising if the Fire danger is Very High or Extreme.

It's not just temperature that makes an "extreme". It looks at wind, humidity, how dry the burnable materials are and so on.

I love getting this message early Sunday mornings...Shire of Mundaring gets a page advising if the Fire danger is Very High or Extreme.
And yes it has been very quiet, I don't think we have had any call outs to fires in our own area this season, nor have we been up Joondalup way this season either, we normally go up there a few times in summer to help out. But there is still a long time left until the weather starts to cool down.
