Quite correct Fastlane, but tomorrow is only rated as "high" up here in the hills so in theory there could be permit burns, although I can not see it being approved to light up. Hope everyone has a quite one tomorrow.

It is my understanding that the Shire of Mundaring are no longer approving Hazard Reduction Burns for Brigades, and private Permit burns are being heavily restricted pending an early move to prohibition (normally Dec 1st)

At about 1915 yesterday 6AR asked Salvation army for ETA. They advised about 20 minutes, after which 6AR informed them that Boya control said they were no longer required. As a volunteer, (if I had been there) I would have liked to have been fed. I assume that's what they were heading out there for.

Did I miss something? Had the Vollies all gone home by then?

Were any of you guys on the fireground and able to set me right?

Question regarding something I heard on the stream regarding the fire on the boundary of Perth Airport...

The aviation fire service people asked the helitaks to drop some water on the airport side of the fire, but to not use class A foam.

So - what's class A foam, and why would they want to avoid it?

I don't think I'll be doing a ground controller course soon, if ever! Hence my question, so that people in the know could answer.

So presumably the foam is detrimental to environmentally sensitive areas, hence the request for it to not be used. To the helicopters have the option to drop just water, or to mix the water with the foaming agent at the time of the drop? I assume that's how it'd work if they can request foam or no foam

Also - try to be less of a smartalec next time, hmmm?

The Helicopters have provision to pump in Foam just before they drop each load of water, and when it is released it gets all mixed up in the load. The same goes for the Fixed wing aircraft.

Yes it can be detrimental for the bushland and also waterways.

i have been to alot of fire and not all the time do fixed wings and helitac use foam but in saying that wen i have been near maybe they just ran out
