Re: General fire discussions
looking at the latest west australian newspaper report online, they have said 1 toodyay resident has burns and has been taken to perth not saying how bad burns are yet,2 firemen suffured smoke inahalation, and 1 fireman heatstroke, never good to hear of injuries and i hope you all make a speedy recovery especially hope the burns victim is not badly burnt, take my hat off to all you brave fireman, and firewomen who put there lives on the line during tragedies like yesterdays blaze at toodyay.i know what you guys have been through as i was in cfa when living in victoria and experanced ash wednesday in my community as a 17yrold,[im a fair bit older now }, as well as being sent to numerous large bush fires around the state and up to sydney as well, its very frightning and intimadting takling large fast moving waves of fire but gives you the best feeling at the same time to be protecting your and everyones else's communities, like i said i take my hat off to you all great job guys keep strong
Re: General fire discussions

Re: General fire discussions
Sounds like the firies did an excellent job out there yesterday considering what was on offer.
Perhaps when someone has a chance they could list which units responded?

Re: General fire discussions
LOL @ request for units turned out!
Yep I did the graveyard shift. There were a lot of trucks out there from all over the traps and then as we were driving back we saw another contingent. But working around our sector was
Darlington LT1 - with me
Darlington LT2
Stoneville LT1
Stoneville LT2
Julimar 1.4
Chidlow 4.4
East Swan 2.4
Shire of Toodyay grader
Central/Toodyay LT1
Bejoording 1.4
South Coogee 2.4
Also seen around the traps were
Midland LT1 and LT2
Daglish 1st + LT
Fremantle 1st + LT
Rockingham 2nd
Armadale 2nd
Guildford 2.4 + LT
(Bassendean 1.4 and LT were apparently there)
Singleton 2.4
Kalamunda 1.4, 2.4? LT's 4, 5 and maybe a couple more
Toodyay UT and LT
Moora SES Troopie
Cockburn SES (probably something to do with catering)
Salvo's were there
Muchea (didn't catch appliance details but they were there)
Mariginiup (I think they had a 2.4 BFS there - Looking at StreetExpress 2008 and that town looks familiar)
Perth 2nd + LT 1, LT 2, LT 3
Spencers Brook I believe also had an appliance up there
Bakers Hill were also heard
Plus the 2 big choppers 681, 682. Can't remember which little choppers but there were 2 of them.
There were a couple of other pumps around but they didn't have their station names I'm guessing one of them was Perth 2nd. (All the pumps were there for asset protection.)
2 FESA chaplains were also on site.
Cops wise:
Polair 61
TEGS Highway Patrol * ~6-8
HL102? - may have been 202.
AH202
Plus their main regional command post and a Cruiser
SJA:
Ambo's as required
I did see a first aid van
LSU1 made an appearance at around 2300.
That my friends is all I can remember for now off the top of my head.

Re: General fire discussions
Of the appliances we saw going there were:
Parkerville 3.4 + LT
Glen Forrest LT 1 + LT 2
Didn't get to see the rest, past each other at around 100km/h on the main road. But was a fairly large contingent.

DM Hills
CFM Cockburn
and another lovely bunch of DM's/CFM's trying to work out what was going on.
Numerous DEC appliances too. Mainly tankers...looked like 2.4's or 3.4's

Re: General fire discussions
I assume, like me, that Tyranus was laughing at the fact that, due to the size of the response, there were more units there than could be easily listed. Whilst travelling to, working on and returning from the fire i heard and dozens and dozens and dozens of callsigns. Tyranus' list above is very impressive from memory but represents only part of the total response, not including Water Corp, Western Power, traffic management, aircraft support, water supply trucks etc etc. On top of that many, many locals were out and about in their own private vehicles either fire fighting and/or providing water and earth moving equipment.written_ficton wrote:Wouldnt presume it was that funny Tyranus?
