Just received an email with a session plan for a lesson I'm giving on Wednesday, and at the bottom of the signature was this:
How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

You don't light campfires on a total fire ban day :) ? And I'd hardly call those matches careless, slashers and blades careless yes, butts maybe, but not matches.

well the match doesn't have a mind of it's own...it's the careless person holding the match. Still comes to the same thing though, when you don't want the fire it's easily lit...when you do want it you need a whole box of matches.

The fesa channel was stuck on in someones private vehicle. A couple talking and the kid in the background.
Anyway, got me thinking. what would happen if this radio system ever went down?

They can delink the channel. There's more than 1 repeater remember....

question - isn't channel 55 the main channel where all the repeaters link to into town? so if ch55 went down what is the back-up channel?

Rockinghams 3rd alarm yesterday had a heap of appliances some off the top of my head were Rockingham 1st and 2nd Hope Valley Kwinnana frs and Vollies Baldivis BFS, secret Habour and singelton BFS aswell as about 3 CFM's and a few DM's. At one stage they asked for air support and there was none available they were all out working hard allready. they ended up having to divert some heliatacks and fixed wings from some where north.

Yes they are a Volunteer Brigade, but they are FRS. There are many acronyms bantered about on this forum that are pointless or incorrect. There is no such thing as CFRS, but don't see people correcting that. Or maybe you should all start using VBFS and VSES?
