A rather stupid and pointless question - what do they get for refreshments? And who delivers them?

I don't think that's stupid at all ... and I bet the people who are in need of refreshments don't either
I know that at major incidents the Salvation Army have a mobile kitchen type arrangement that they can set up. For smaller operations, I'm not entirely sure. Some of our active fire personnel can probably answer much better than I could!
(BTW I split this out into a topic of its own so as not to clutter the main fire thread...)

Yeah we get the Salvos caravan kitchen when they are doing exercises at our sites.

Salvo's and the trailers...they have a couple of smaller trailers which they can operate from quite often it's this. Otherwise it may be a trip to somewhere like Little Caesers (As SamW and I were treated to at the one incident we attended a number of weeks ago) Just depends on who's at the fire and what credit card limit they have have...

Are there any others?? We were only 5 minutes away and Mike Scott was there so it was his credit card and he probably wanted good food too

I've been to a couple of fires where the FRS chaplin has brought us cold chicken treat and warm coke...

Depends on the incident size and who/what is available. It could be the Chaplin bringing out Coffey and biscuits, or cooking up a BBQ breakfast, the small Salvo's trailer and a BBQ, or the big salvo's truck that has a big kitchen in it. I remember at the Spectacles fire I had a big hamburger, with the lot and then fruit salad and ice cream. Oh and the DEC also have a food trailer, they used it at the John Forrest National Park fire last season, those guys cook up a good BBQ, steak, sausages, kebabs, the works. And as Tyranus said, little Caesars Pizza, he is local and very supportive of the vollies, we always get a good deal from him.

I've been told the Chaplain can supply level 1 refreshments.
In the country, for big jobs, we contact a local eatery (eg roadhouse) and try to get the Area Manager to pay. At the Porongurup fire in 2007 it was DEC supplying the refreshments as it was in their patch.

Small jobs, Chaplain or or local brigade resource will bring light refreshments - drinks, biscuits, cake etc. If still small but longer duration, same resources, but sandwiches/bbq/local take-away.
Larger still, then Salvos or chaplain/local brigade resources will organise BBQs or sandwiches utilising kitchen facilities - usually a trailer or if big enough, the Salvo Truck.
The basic influencing factors are duration, no. of personnel and availability of chaplain etc.

I remember at a fire in Whiteman Park a good 10-15 years ago they brought sandwiches and cold drinks around in a 4WD truck while we more or less just stayed on the fireground, and then at the end when we returned to the control point they had a mountain of Red Rooster chicken and chips boxes to give out to everybody
Loooooong time ago now though, I'm sure it's changed a lot since then.

For those who have not seen the Salvo's Truck...
and the output is excellent.
At times SES deliver food to Firefighters. In the past I have had to go to a local roadhouse where an account was opened up and grab drinks and sandwiches and take to a location near the fire where personel would come and get them. Depends where it is I guess. If its way out in the middle of nowhere then whomever is available would do it,as in my case.
