just a quick question.... Is 6AR and 6IP the same thing? or are they different?
if anyone can eleborate that would be awesome.

Yes and No.
Both are call signs for fire trucks to call in to when turning out to incidents depending on what brigade/station they are. They both are located in the same location and operated usually by a single operator.
I believe however in summer when it's busy they can have 2 different operators operating the 2 call signs. But principally they are the same.

A good reminder to all in FRS and BFS to read the SOPs. The Volunteer portal has a lot of the SOPs available.

They split them last season for a week with all the fires going on here in perth and down south..

Another minor detail is that 6AR and 6IP operate on different frequencies. If I recall correctly, you should use the callsign that applies to that channel.
24, 25, 30, 80 - 6IP
51, 52, 55, 57, 58 - 6AR
When they do split the channels, you'll usually be requested to change to the appropriate channel when responding, depending on which channels the incident is being controlled from. eg responding to a Bush Fire incident outside Gazetted area, "change to 6IP and call in"
